Cafe Kaleo sits along the bustling Pittwater Road in Hunters Hill, striking a balance between relaxed neighbourhood café and lively local meeting spot. Known for its carefully crafted coffee, this place draws in morning regulars and weekend brunch goers alike, all appreciating the smooth, rich espresso blends and milk textures that suggest a perfectionist approach behind the bar. The flat whites and cold drip options receive consistent praise, making it a reliable pick for anyone who takes their coffee seriously.

The indoor space is open and airy without feeling impersonal, fitting well with the casual but attentive service the staff provide. This is a spot where locals might settle in with a newspaper or catch up with friends over a leisurely breakfast or lunch. The menu leans into fresh, wholesome ingredients offering both familiar café staples like croissants and banana bread, as well as more distinctive plates like the prawn and avocado salad or the Portuguese chicken burger. These choices reflect a kitchen that values quality and subtle creativity without overwhelming the café vibe.

Families and groups find this a particularly comfortable place for casual outings — the atmosphere is approachable and the food is reliably fresh, which supports a range of dining preferences from lighter salads to heartier sandwiches. Morning or early afternoon visits seem best for soaking up the natural light that filters in, while the open seating makes socialising easy but not noisy.

  • Best for: Coffee aficionados and neighbourhood brunch crowds looking for a quiet but sociable setting.
  • Who will enjoy it: Local workers, families, and anyone wanting a grounded café experience with well-made food and excellent coffee.
  • When to go: Mornings and early afternoons, especially on weekends when the space feels most settled and convivial.
  • Atmosphere: Casual, friendly, and airy with an unhurried pace supported by welcoming service and a straightforward menu.

The owner is truly a master at making coffee — the milk was incredibly smooth and silky, and the coffee had beautiful balance with rich, aromatic flavors. Every dish we tried was delicious, but the standout was definitely the house pie — it was absolutely fantastic. The house-made pesto was also a real highlight, so fresh and full of flavor. On top of that, the space is wonderfully open and spacious, with big tables and a great sense of room, which made the experience even better. This place is a gem for both coffee lovers and foodies alike.

Would give it 4.5 stars, even tough I've only had the Coffee. Flat white was spot on. Attentive staff, prompt service, complimentary newspaper to read if dining in. I'll have to return to try their food.

This shop is really cosy n nice. I had a big brekkie, a vegi panini and an omelette. The foods are delicious . You should try OJ, it was very fresh. After I left the shop, I rang to my friends for the next brekkie meeting with them.

What can I say… just wow. Everything we ordered was delicious, fresh and nicely seasoned. The tiramisu iced coffee and cold drip coffees are a must. Their food is unique and has many influences. I loved their chicken and leek tart and prawn and avocado salad the most. I will be back.

Best Cafe in the area. Its korean fusion. Best steak sandwich I've had in a long time actually... im from North America and that says a lot, I normally really miss a good Philly cheese steak. I come here with my kid who likes the babychini. Will come again. Friendly staff, quiet atmosphere. Music isn't too loud.

Delicious food and good service. I had chilli scrambled eggs, big brekkie and spanish eggs so far. All of them are very nice. Good coffee as well.
